Energon Refunds, Shop Updates & Unicron Changes

Once the event started, we realized our initial estimation of the average Energon obtained per match was too high, making the Energon cost for Shop items, especially Optimus Prime/Elita-One Classic and Supers also too high. Although we noticed this early on, it wasn't a change we could implement on the fly without properly thinking it through. Since we are changing shop prices mid-event, we felt it wouldn’t be fair to those who purchased characters at the higher price, which is why we’re refunding the Energon spent on them. We’re also giving 100 Energon to everyone for the trouble.

The price difference is due to Hatchling Run matches not giving other rewards like end-of-battle Chests or win rewards. In a way, we wanted to ensure players still felt rewarded for the time spent playing Hatchling Run, despite the mode not granting the usual rewards.

When the event started, players seemed confused about Unicron showing up across all modes, especially since we have a highlighted, permanent Unicron mode for the duration of the event.

We agreed this was inconsistent, and a bit annoying especially for competitive players in Squad League. Due to technical limitations that will be fixed in the next update, we couldn’t remove Unicron only from Squad League, we had to either keep him in all modes or remove him entirely. We went for the latter, but the reception wasn’t great.

Another limitation we faced was that we couldn’t enable random modifiers in the Transformers slot. The middle-ground solution we’re now implementing is to bring Unicron back in all modes but with a lower chance of appearing, as at the start of the event, he was showing up about 50% of the time.
